About Elizabeth Harrington, President and CEO
Our History
Beth Harrington founded E. B. Harrington & Co., Inc., as an art consulting company in 1980. From an early age, she trained to be an artist while studying art history in northern Italy and at the Institute of Fine Arts in NY. Prior to becoming a private art advisor, Ms. Harrington worked for the renowned art dealer and gallery owner, Richard L. Feigen, on Park Avenue in Manhattan. With the gallery’s specialty in sourcing outstanding masterworks spanning the centuries, Ms. Harrington gained a wealth of experience in all facets of the art business. She was trained to deal with the most discerning international clients and developed a connoisseur’s “eye” for evaluating artwork.
Since founding the business, the Company has built a highly respected reputation based on years of experience in the art marketplace. Harrington’s full range of expertise has been cultivated from a background of fluidly dealing with Old Masters to Contemporary artwork. From our solid presence in the marketplace, we have developed long-lasting partnerships and contacts with the finest resources and expertise, including worldwide museums, galleries, auction houses, legal counsel and appraisers. We also provide all art services for our clients related to the care and maintenance of their collections.
Over the years, we have successfully transacted a multitude of purchases and sales for both private and corporate collectors. We have had the opportunity to source rare works of art and to negotiate advantageous purchases in complex transactions. The highest level of discretion and integrity is always maintained from handling a single, significant purchase to developing a comprehensive collection of museum quality works. We have a deep commitment to serving our clients with the utmost integrity, professionalism and expertise.
